Ghana (#2 producer) has a mandatory cocoa spraying program to control pests and that country alone provides 15% or more of the world's supply. Also a lot of spraying in Indonesia, #3 producer and many other countries. Beyond the farm, non organic beans are sprayed with chemical fumigants to kill pests. If chocolate does not have the organic logo, don't count on it being organically grown. Buy organic. It is not correct that 90% of cocoa is grown organically.
