Menopause Menopause marks the end of female fertility The menopause signals the end of a woman’s fertile life, and results from decreasing production of sex hormones by the ovaries. It normally occurs between the mid 40s and late 50s, although it can occur much earlier, and in extreme cases even in childhood.
